🏗️ Background and Technical Overview
The Kalurghat Bridge, a dual-purpose structure spanning 239 metres over the Karnaphuli River, was originally constructed in 1930. Due to ageing and structural degradation, it had become unsuitable for both rail and road transport, prompting the urgent need for renovation.
